Searchlight exists for dreams that, for whatever reason, have never been fully realized. It's for that dreamer who never saw a way forward.

About RJ
Searchlight Studio is led by R.J. Mabanta, an educator, strategist, and creative operator with an MFA in Theatre and an MAEd in Educational Leadership.
Before working in organizations and systems, RJ trained in classical theatre, studying how language, rhythm, and structure move people. In that tradition, nothing is accidental. Words carry weight. Punctuation signals intention. Timing shapes meaning. Language doesn’t just communicate ideas; it organizes attention, behavior, and belief within a group.
That discipline anchors RJ’s leadership and advisory work.
Over the last decade, RJ has led complex initiatives across education, social impact, and organizational design—launching programs, guiding teams, clarifying brands, and building systems that connect vision to execution. While his path did not follow a traditional MBA track, the work has demanded the same fluency: strategy, operations, stakeholder alignment, go-to-market thinking, and accountability—paired with a deep understanding of people, context, and consequence.
Education, arts administration, social innovation, and college admissions have been foundational arenas for this work—spaces where clarity, narrative, and systems thinking carry real stakes. That grounding continues to inform RJ’s work today as Searchlight Studio partners with founders, leaders, and organizations across sectors.
